What You Can Expect
Our goal is to build a long-lasting relationship
with each of our customers. For this reason, our first meeting will
be a time when we can get to know each other. We'll ask a number of
questions relating to your family, your project, and your vision for the
space - your needs, desires, and expectations.
These are important questions, because this is YOUR
project. We don't push our own products or design ideas or sell you
a "one size fits all" plan. Every home, and every family, is
different. Your traffic patterns and space uses will be different
than your neighbor's. We will give you our ideas and input, but the goal
is to bring out your ideas. Our thorough attention to detail and our
understanding of a wide range of lifestyles and backgrounds gives us the
ability to customize the design to fit YOUR needs, to analyze the existing
structure and clearly define the most cost effective means to make the
modifications you desire, and to insure that the completed project is not
only what you envisioned, but is also a practical, functional, and
aesthetic solution with the quality to last.
At our first meeting, we will also ask you about
your budget for the project. It is important that we have an honest
discussion about how much you are willing to invest in the project.
The scope of the finished project will be dependent upon what you choose
to spend. While we all hope for a mansion on a mobile home budget,
the reality is that while all things are possible, not all things are
prudent. We'll help you sort out the best value for the space.
We will take notes about the project, and will take
a series of photographs both for reference and documentation. If
needed, we will take detailed measurements of the project area.
We don't accept everyone as a customer. We
won't cobble things together, disguise a problem, or do cosmetic repair to
structurally unsound and unsafe components. But if we're able to
work together, this first meeting will be important in establishing a
lifetime partnership between us. As did the skilled craftsmen
throughout history, we take a genuine and personal interest in you, your
home, and the workmanship that we leave behind at the end of the day.

Bid Shopping
Because you can trust us to be honest and fair in
all our relationships, hiring us to work at an hourly rate will save you
money. Remember that you are paying not just a handyman, but a
skilled team of craftsmen who use their insight and experience to get the
job done efficiently, effectively, and with quality.
If you chose to get competitive bids, you must
remember that all bids are not created equally. To simply choose the
lowest price can prove to cost you far more in the long run. Be sure
to read our FAQ in the "Expert Advice" section for more information on
this important topic.
Smith Home Improvements offers a free bid review
service to compare line by line the differences in our bid and each of the
other bids you receive. The details many bids "leave out" can be
significant; and if a bid is much lower than the rest, you can be assured
there is a catch. |
